Change Invoice Language

There are two language questions on an invoice site: the language of the web interface and the language printed on the invoice itself. They should usually move together, but the invoice draft may need its own language control when you work across clients.

Who this helps and what it solves

Who this helps
Users creating invoices for clients in another language or switching between localized templates and the English generator.
When this happens
The site language changes, but invoice title, item headers, labels, or custom text appear mixed.
Problem to solve
Interface language, invoice label language, currency, and manually written invoice content are related but not the same control.
How MakeInvoice.ai helps
MakeInvoice.ai separates default invoice labels from custom invoice content so the user can change labels without silently rewriting notes and line items.
Where the product stops
The workflow does not automatically translate custom descriptions, choose the correct currency for every country, or replace human review.

What should change

  • The invoice title should move to the selected invoice language when it still uses a default title.
  • The item table headers should change with the invoice language unless you customized them.
  • Links from localized templates should open the generator with labels already set to that language.

What should not be forced

  • A custom header you typed should not be overwritten just because the site language changes.
  • A manually written note should not be machine-translated by the browser workflow.
  • Currency should be set intentionally; language alone does not prove the right currency for every client.

If the invoice still looks mixed

  • Refresh the localized template link and confirm it includes the right language path.
  • Use the language selector inside the generator settings when it is visible.
  • If only the notes or line-item descriptions are mixed, edit those manually because they are invoice content, not default labels.

Best next paths

Should changing site language change the invoice language?

For editable default drafts, yes. The visible invoice labels should follow the selected language unless you customized them.

Why did my custom item header not change?

Custom headers are treated as invoice content and should not be overwritten automatically.

Should line item descriptions be translated automatically?

No. Line item descriptions are invoice content you wrote, so the browser workflow should not silently translate them.

Ready to continue?

Use language controls for default invoice labels, and edit custom notes or line items manually when the invoice content itself needs translation.
